Irish Tree, LLC, announces the launch of its family history research portal, providing free consultations and cost-effective packages for as low as $299.
Led by experienced family history researcher Maureen Fitzpatrick, Irish Tree began offering services in January at http://irishtree.org
“Building a family tree can be a challenging endeavor regardless of nationality. Those with ancestors in Ireland face unique challenges due to millions of missing and damaged birth, death and marriage records,” said Fitzpatrick, whose experience dates to the early 1990s and is rooted in formal validation of client assumptions as well as original, documented research.
– Basic: Those with existing family trees may use Irish Tree to locate available birth, death and marriage records, obituaries and other primary data for validation and additional context. Up to five hours of research for $299.
– Starter: Those without formal documentation can use Irish Tree to build the framework for a more extensive tree that starts with parents and grandparents. Up to five hours of research for $299.
– Custom: Even experienced researchers hit a brick wall from time to time. Irish Tree offers custom packages designed to address specific challenges. A free consultation is provided to determine the scope of work.
– A Milwaukee public relations executive hired Irish Tree to finish up her family tree before her mother succumbed to dementia. Maureen delivered the goods, complete with photos and interesting historical news articles about mom’s family. The tree led to a memorable out-of-state road trip with plenty of smiles. “My mom was over the moon,” the client wrote. “She had us read her every story and sort of owned every person with great pride, regardless of direct lineage. She loves thinking she is the most Irish person ever.”
– Another client was stumped on her family’s birth town in Ireland, a riddle solved by Irish Tree. “Your research was what unlocked my clarity about our ancestors!! You found an alternate obituary that we had never seen (because of the spelling of our last name). That obituary provided the final clues we needed to confirm her birthplace, which I was able to visit. It was an absolutely magical trip and you played such an important role in helping me find my great grandmother. Thank you so much!”
Years before the internet and online platforms for family history research, Maureen was a frequent visitor at the Latter Day Saints library in Salt Lake City and at public libraries across America in pursuit of obituaries, and birth, death, marriage and immigration records on microfilm.
Using the dial-up service CompuServe in the early 1990s, the “Roots Forum” connected with a fellow genealogist in Northern Ireland and led to dozens of Ireland visits to conduct primary research.
As an experienced genealogist, Maureen is a stickler for ethics and best practices. Work is done with integrity, reliability, and respect for privacy – keeping clients’ sensitive personal and historical data confidential.
A native of New York City, Maureen began her professional life as a registered nurse, working in surgical intensive care at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She later worked as sous chef at a gourmet soup kitchen in Harlem, and volunteer coordinator for the Cleveland International Film Festival. Maureen holds degrees in nursing and history.
