Trump votes by mail as he rages against mail-in ballots as 'cheating': report

President Donald Trump spent Monday telling a law enforcement task force in Memphis that mail-in voting is "mail-in cheating" and vowing to do something about it.

But later Monday, The Washington Post reported Trump himself voted by mail.

The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections website shows Trump, registered to vote at his Mar-a-Lago estate, cast a mail ballot in Tuesday's special election between Republican Jon Maples and Democrat Emily Gregory for a Florida state house seat. A spokesperson for the office confirmed the information was "accurate."

To boot, he didn't seem to even need to vote by mail.

"Trump did not have to vote by mail. He was in Palm Beach over the weekend, and early in-person voting was available through Sunday," the Post noted.

The report noted Trump also voted by mail in 2020 while calling the practice corrupt, telling reporters at the time: "I'm allowed to."

His remote vote comes as Trump pushes the SAVE Act through the Senate, a sweeping overhaul of election law that would impose new restrictions on mail voting nationwide. He wrote on social media last year that he was going to "lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS" and declared that "ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING."

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales called it "a non-story" because Trump lives in Washington and votes in Florida.

“As President Trump has said, the Save America Act has commonsense exceptions for Americans to use mail-in ballots for illness, disability, military or travel — but universal mail-in voting should not be allowed because it’s highly susceptible to fraud,” Wales added, baselessly.
