Bestselling Novel ‘Water Drumming In The Soul’ Available Free on Amazon for Limited Time

The bestselling literary fiction ebook ‘Water Drumming In The Soul’ by author Eric Madeen will be available at no charge from January 31 through February 1 exclusively at Amazon. The novel, based on Madeen’s travels in Africa as a former Peace Corps volunteer, represents what the author describes as a step back from the current AI zeitgeist toward Romanticism, focusing on human connection and cultural authenticity.

In the novel, Peace Corps volunteer David Fields arrives in an equatorial African village and becomes captivated by a woman water drumming—playing a stream as a drum while singing. Their ensuing love story forms the core of what reviewers have called a vibrant and emotionally resonant narrative. Professor Zaheer Baber of the University of Toronto praised the novel’s authentic portrayal of African culture, noting that ‘Madeen’s storytelling prowess shines through and resonates with authenticity.’

The work has drawn comparisons to literary masters, with author Elizabeth Montano stating it is ‘on par with works by whom we consider masters … Hemingway definitely comes to mind.’ One Amazon reviewer described the novel as ‘a rollercoaster of emotions that’ll have you laughing, crying, and everything in between’ while exploring themes of culture, identity, and human connection.

Madeen, a senior associate professor of literature and Amazon multi-bestselling author, draws from his own experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in Francophone Gabon, where he constructed a primary school complex in an equatorial village. This background informs what readers have described as the novel’s vigorous fictional reality. The author’s other works include the Tokyo-focused ‘Tokyo-ing!’ and the travelogue ‘Asian Trail Mix: True Tales From Borneo to Japan,’ both available through his author page at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Eric-Madeen/author/B08VGRNJVW?.

The free promotion offers readers access to a novel that, according to its description, provides a contrast to what the late Fredric Jameson described in ‘Postmodernism, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism’ as a cultural condition where the artificial becomes so prevalent there’s nothing natural to compare it to. Instead, ‘Water Drumming In The Soul’ presents what Madeen characterizes as a return to Romanticism through its exploration of love, culture, and human experience in an African setting. The novel’s ending, described as having a multiplicity of interpretations, echoes Vladimir Nabokov’s observation that the finest art is not simple and sincere but rather deceitful and complex.

More information about Eric Madeen and his works is available at his website https://ericmadeen.com. The limited-time free offer for ‘Water Drumming In The Soul: A Novel Of Racy Love in the Heart of Africa’ provides an opportunity for readers to engage with a work that has been praised for its authentic cultural representation and emotional depth.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
